Tarantulabean's News

Posted by Tarantulabean - November 18th, 2012

Alrighty. Here's a good ol' news update. I'm sure you've been wanting one.

So, as general art goes... well, it goes slowly. IN OTHER NEWS...

As you may have heard, I'm starting up an old comic series of mine called James & Jim. You may have heard me talk about it some time ago. But yea, you can look forward to that coming along, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Check out the Official Website (designed by me) for details. Feel free to also check out the official Facebook and Twitter pages for news and updates. Trust me guys, this shiz will be awesome. I started the comic in late 2009, you won't believe how much it's evolved since. :3

And for all those itching for the Madness Assassin, I'll have you know that me and Aryf are still slowly inching our way along. Aryf's been doing some tests and commissions lately to touch up his animation skills. I will say, it's going slow, mainly because we have less time each day to work on it, and it's become less of a priority. But it is making progress. You'll probably get it sometime in 2013. Hey- we have the intro scene and menus done, which are quite badass by the way!

Also, feel free to check out a drawing I put up on DeviantART that was originally going to be a part of a poster for the Madness Assassin.

Hey guys. Unfortunately, neither the Madness Assassin nor my Madness Day art made Madness Day 2012. :c

I kind of feel I let you guys down. I've been fairly inactive lately, I was really hoping to get something in, but now nothing will make it in time. However, if I don't get too sidetracked, I should be able to get my MD2012 art done in a few days hopefully. Unfortunately I had forgotten to work on it and I actually haven't gotten very far. I don't know when the Madness Assassin will be done, but it won't be happening for a while. Go ask Aryf about it, but he'll probably say that school and TF2 is consuming most of his time. Me likewise. Except for well, the TF2 part.

Either way, happy belated Madness Day, I've seen some of the submissions, but not everything yet. Seems pretty cool so far. Hope y'all are enjoying it.

In other news, I'm also working on making a semi-realistic texture pack for minecraft. It's badass so far, and for those of you who play it, you'll love it. Also, I will be reviving an old comic series of mine called James & Jim. You may have heard of it before. I'll fill in the details later.

Anyways, that is all. Peace out.

Sorry guys, but unfortunately, The Madness Assassin will not be making it in time for Madness Day 2012. :c You'll have to wait a while, I don't know how long though. But it won't be released on MD2012. Sorry, but we started working on it too late, and with school starting up again... well, you get the idea.

However, on the bright side, I will be making some wonderful art to celebrate the occasion instead. Now, instead of revamping my 2011 submission, I've decided to go creative. Besides, you should all know by now that I can draw Hank, Sanford, Deimos, Jesus, Tricky, and the Auditor. So why should I draw them in another boring-although-badass showcase again? Instead, I'm doing something different. And I know you guys will love it. :3

Don't forget to go check out my facebook or twitter, I might be posting sneak peeks of it.

Geez, the people around here are pretty strict.

What are you doing for Madness Day? Can't wait to see what's in store this year.

EDIT: Also, I'm almost at 100 fans! Awesome, you guys rock!
EDIT2: YAY! ONE HUNDRED FANS! :D

No Trespassing

Just to clear up, I only did the art that was used for the icon. Nothing else. Don't ask me why I was promoted to such a high rank in the collab, go ask why juanford66 why he did he. He created the entire collab. I`m not really a part of it. :3

In other news The Madness Assassin is still progressing. And I've been in Montreal for the past few days, having a nice vacation, visiting old favourite places and friends.

So, first let me say that I was away for a the past few days, if you didn't notice. My great-grandfather recently passed away, I went to go to his funeral. It was pretty sad, but I got to see my cousins and we had some fun and stuff. Except for the horseflies, they were everywhere up there. -.-'

But anyway, I'm back, and I made some awesome new art; http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/tarantulakid9 6/the-protagonists

I also made a speedpaint video of me drawing it, took about 3 hours. Youtube harmed the video a little, but otherwise was left not too damaged. http://youtu.be/DEMNK9-jLj4

Anyway, I might be thinking about doing some Batman or Minecraft related art, and maybe some things for a friend of mine who none of you know. And I might stray into other things as well, non-Madness. Why? Mainly because, I think that I am a good artist, and that I should expand my talents beyond drawing mostly Madness Combat. Don't worry, I'll still do my Madness art, but I'll be submitting different things occasionally.

Now, you guys gotta promise that you guys won't ignore my non-Madness art simply because it isn't Madness Combat. C'mon guys, promise me. I want as much feedback for that stuff as I get for my Madness stuff. Because I don't want an audience of people that only watches me because I like Madness and I draw Madness art. I know not all of you are like that, though, and I know you'll check out all of  my miscellaneous art and give me good feedback. :)

Alright. So 1.7 came out for M:PN. Pretty sweet. Tons of new stuff. Zombie Arena Mode, new gear, weapons, sounds, squadmates, options, etc. Love'n it.

So Zombie Mode, pretty brutal. Since I was in my 60's waves in normal Arena Mode, I started off in my 60's in Zombie Arena Mode. Not good, especially since I wasn't prepared to fight off hoards of zombies. Thankfully, I read the comments and didn't bring my precious scoped M-249. Which now has been down-grated; perks no longer apply, it can overheat, and it decreases your speed when you carry it. But anyway, I died of course, at the green hands of a zombie OBSV agent. But now I'm getting pretty good at it, I've survived to Wave 7 so far. In case some of you can't get past Wave 3, here's a little guide for ya. That's right. JUST FOR YOU.

TIP #1. Don't bring your precious expensive guns.
Yea, that's right. Don't bring in your shiny, brand-new G36, TAR-21, USAS-12, and especially your M-249. Unless you have boat loads of money, don't. It's not worth it having to spend over $3,000 every time you die or lose it. And that's going to happen A LOT. Instead, bring something that's nice, but not too expensive or rare to replace often. Like the OA-93, or an H&K SMG2. Besides, believe it or not, you won't be using your guns until the end of the round or in much later waves when you are being totally swarmed by zeds.

TIP #2. ALWAYS BRING A BINARY SWORD.
Always bring the trusty 316 sword. Or at least a dragon sword, SOMETHING. As long as it doesn't break in like 10 hits. You need something that will last you the whole round. Your options are; the binary sword, 1337 sword, dragon sword, carbon sword, streetsign, or the megachette. AND THAT'S IT. It's gotta be able to do big damage, and it's gotta be able to take big hits. But if you can take the binary sword, then above all, take that glorious wedge of steel. That thing does 20 damage per slice and can take nearly 200 hits before it's rubbish. Believe me, this thing will save your life. I also recommend getting your strength, melee, and unarmed stats up as high as possible. Once all that's done, you can slice through any zombie grunt in one hit with the one and only Jesus sword. 1337s, two hits. ATPs, three or four. OBSVs... good luck even seeing one before you die. I haven't even made it that far (excluding when I started in the 60's waves). So have fun. And if that blade of awesome falls out of your hands, punch a zombie in the face with your fists of steel. You leveled up your unarmed for a reason. Then press space a few times, then dash over and pick it back up. If you find yourself overwhelmed, then bring out your trusty bad-guy-blaster out that we went over in Tip #1.

TIP #3. Don't bring in all your doods.
Now, you might be thinking; 'Hey, I'll bring in six guys, give them all shotguns and energy drinks and we'll make it through the day'. Well guess what. WRONG. If you even dare to bring in a squadmate, only bring in one or two. And although you have Hank at your disposal, don't bring him. Bring in the Joe-shmoes. Because the moment you send in a squadmate into that arena, he's a dead man. Sure. He'll make it through waves 1 and 2. But in the later waves, you'll be sure to watch your favourite character be eaten alive by zombies. Now, if you don't know by now, if a zombie gets ahold of you, you mash the WASD keys to escape. Otherwise you're dead meat once your TAC-Bar runs out. But you see, your squadmates don't have their own WASD keys, and are pretty much screwed if a zombie gets ahold of them. So it's your job to protect them. If he goes off the screen and doesn't return, get your ass over there. You'll probably arrive just to see him bleed at the neck at collapse. You are these guys' only hope, so the few squadmates you do bring in, keep an eye on them. Don't forget, the more squadmates you have on the field, the more lag there is. And believe me, Zombie Arena Mode is the last place you want a bunch of lag.

TIP #4. Dash attacks: Use 'em.
So if you haven't figured out by now, if you dash whilst holding the blade of your choice and attack, you throw yourself forward and heave the thing through whatever is in front of you. Now, this is great for sending the nearest 1337 zombie across the room or at least dealing him a good chunk of damage. This is even handy for escaping big crowds of the green buggers. It's also fun to just do on zombie grunts.

TIP#5. The cover is useless.
Yea, so you may have noticed two black cardboard boxes in the arena that you can use as cover. 'Oh boy, now my damage is reduced if I hide behind it!'. WRONG. First of all, they are inconveniently located against the wall. Second, the guns that zombies carry, they don't even use. They're just for drops. And third, ZOMBIES WILL EACH YOU ALIVE IF THEY GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO TOUCH YOU. Which means you need to stay mobile, and cover isn't going to help you reduce damage. Because the truth is, you have no health bar in this mode, fellas. Your only life line is your TAC-Bar. Because as soon as it empties, you are as dead as a doornail the moment the nearest brain-dead, drooling creep gets his greasy hands on you.

And that's it. Good luck fighting those zombies. Peace out.

Yea Newgrounds. 'Bout time you added this feature.

I mean, other than everything being fancy, the only new "features" I used were the handy new buttons on the toolbar uptop and the favourite-authors feed. But now I can track whos stalking me! Maybe even give a random hello to some of you.

It's great to know how many people favourited me. :D 54 fans, pretty awesome. :D
GEEZ GUYS Y U SO QUIET? I thought I only had like, 20. :3

But anywho, still working on producing art for The Madness Assassin, Aryf is still working on some animation tests whilst waiting ever-so-patiently. But of course, I'm still working on some other arts on the side. Most importantly, I finally started working on sum Project Nexus art. It's pretty baws so far. I know you guys are itching to see the end result. I'll give you a hint; Mr. Mag Agent N is in it.

The game never gets old. Can't wait for even moar updates, digging the new G03LM armor, I'm level 60 now. Waves are pretty brutal now, but I'm still kicking ass.

Anywho, remember that Madness Assassin guy? Well guess wat. He'll be having his first, full-length, epic episode for Madness Day, maybe before. But if Madness Day is close enough by the time it's done, then I might as well wait for it.

Now I know that some have told me that I'm ready for a full-length project, and some have told me I need practice. And to be honest, I think I do. Let's start with- I don't know if I have the patience to complete a full-length animation. And besides, I want this to be dark, very serious, and most importantly bad ass. And I don't want it looking bad. I want it to look smooth. So, I have nominated Madmanaryf, a friend of mine to animate it for me. He might not be as good as Krinkels himself, but he's better than any animation I've done. And I'd say he does a pretty damn good job.

So. With my ideas, story, and artistic abilities and Aryf's slick animation skills, we will make The Madness Assassin happen. And it will be awesome.

Anyway, here's a pic of me now in Project Nexus.

News on Madness Assassin and Project Nexus

Posted by Tarantulabean - March 31st, 2012

Well, guess wat. I finally decided to get around to blogging about Madness: Project Nexus. Let's start off with, err, IT WAS FREAKIN' AWESOME! That about sums it up. :3

Project Nexus is defiantly the next greatest game on NG. It's like, 50 steps forward from Madness Interactive. In fact, some of the elements from the game remind me of Revolverroach's Madness Retaliation. Which the sequel of STILL hasn't been made. But anywho. The game, I've found, has very little downs. Now I'm sure almost all of you guys have played the game already, but I'm gonna state the stuff again anyways. And maybe some stuff you DIDN'T know. So listen up doods.

The Story Mode is awesome. A bunch of missions, mainly Sanford and Deimos. One Episode, but Krinkels told me to expect a total of 3 Episodes in total by the end. I love SMGs in this game, I'll say that. I find pistols are nice too, but I'd choose an SMG over it. Or a rifle. But not a shotgun. I just find the shotguns are awkward, and because they are so big, if I'm too close to a dood, it fires past them and keeps on missing. :| I usually don't go for melees unless the circumstances force me to use them or if it's easier to use melee. But that's my view on the weapons.

Arena Combat Mode is pretty sick. Make your own dood, level him up, dress him up, build him into one kick-ass killing machine. Right now I'm currently level 46, on wave 21 with 2496 kills total. I have (In order) Vincent, Jesus, Tricky, Hank, Sanford, and Deimos on my squad. I have some pretty baws gear, and am equipped with the best gun in the game; the M-249 with scope. Epic rate of fire, 12 damage, 200 range, 1.8 accuracy, 200 ammo, and approximately 150% guaranteed to kill everyone in the room without reloading. Baws.

Now for some stuff you likely didn't know! (Unless you looked it up on the wiki, which I PUT ON THERE)

Krinkels is planning on having a total of 3 Episodes. Episode 2 will be longer, and throughout the Episodes the full Madness Combat cast will make appearances. He's also planning on an RPG Mode, a Paintball Mode, and a Zombie Mode. We should most likely be expecting some of these new game modes before Episode 2.

But anyway. I rate it 5/5 stars. Most epic Madness game, and will become more epic as more stuff is released.

*PHEW* AND THAT'S ALL, FOLKS.

Finally Blogging about Project Nexus
